Back when I joined SoDA as a newbie, This project already had existed as a small discord bot for our discord server.
I had worked previously at online student organizations those including CSYA and HackUnited. So I generally had an idea on how things worked in a club, there's usual events, workshops, hackathons, at most some flagship events.
and through one of those flagship events, InnovationHacks S25 in collaboration with GDSC, AIS and SoDA, we were just chatting about projects in one of those event rooms about projects.
That's really where we thought about how cool it would be to build something that other clubs could run, i had just recently learnt about how cloud compute works and shit, so i was like let's build our own "cloud" of projects or more like an "infra" such that since we have many smaller projects like keeping track of member points, officer points, leaderboard, etc etc, How nice would it be to have one single dashboard, made by us just for us. That's really where it was born, How cool it would be!! Letsgo!!
I think people underestimate on what clubs mean to them. Most of them just show up for perks and food. To me clubs looked like as a place where I could understand how teams work together, how people achieve a goal together as a team, the team spirit, the soft skills that one needs before heading to industry or in a setting perhaps.
SoDA turned out to be THE place where I learned about what it means to have a good engineering team, what means about ownership and accountability as an engineer, and especially how important it is to be adaptable and communicative and transparent with the team.
